There are many different machines that offer a similar type of treatment. We chose our machine (the Youlaser) because it delivers two laser beams into the skin at different wavelengths. It was a significant advancement in treatment five years ago when we purchased this device.
The CO2 laser vaporises the skin and a second 1540nm laser heats underneath the skin. The combination allows for much safer re-organisation and healing of the skin at lower energy settings compared to other fractionating devices. This reduces patient risk and discomfort without compromising on effectiveness.
The 'down-time' is approximately five days. There is minimal treatment and post-treatment discomfort. We will give you advice how to care for your skin after treatment. This laser treatment is an outpatient procedure and can take up to 60 minutes to complete. Risks are low and repeat treatments can improve on any benefit achieved. The commonest treatments we treat are:
The light emitted from Ipulse helps to destroy the bacteria which causes acne by exciting the existing oxygen molcules and increasing the molecules power. These super powered molecules break down the bacteria that cause acne and create an atmosphere where it cannot breathe. By boosing the skin’s internal cleansing system in this way, Ipulse dramatically reduces acne and the occurrence and apperance of scarring, resulting in much clearer skin.
It can often be difficult to assess suitability for Fractionating CO2 laser for acne scarring and facial rejuvenation.
Our Fractional CO2 service is run at Exeter Medical.
